Support Groups

Support groups provide meaningful connections for those who share similar problems, and also offer emotional and moral support. Quite often, support group members also share practical advice and coping skills for those facing a new health diagnosis or at the beginning of a caregiving journey. Hearing from others facing similar challenges can also make you feel less alone. Whatever issues you or a loved one are facing, the best medicine may be the voice of people who have walked in your shoes.

The Wallace Center sponsors and leads various support groups to serve and help our members. The following is a short list of support groups that you can join. Simply call or email to get started.

Alzheimers' Association CT

The Alzheimer’s Association Caregiver Support Group is for caregivers for those with dementia. Open to anyone in need, it has morphed into a virtual group with folks from all over the state. This group meets on the third Monday of the month from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m.

From there, participants will receive a link, and Maria will touch base with the caregiver before the meeting to introduce herself so new members feel comfortable joining the group.

Contact the group facilitator, Maria Scaros, at mscaros@thegreensatgreenwich.com for more information.

Greenwich Hospital

The Yale New Haven Greenwich Hospital hosts a number of support groups, online and in-person, for health issues ranging from cardiovascular to cancer support services.

Go Greenwich Hospital to search for a group that meets your needs.

Waterstone on High Ridge

Waterstone on High Ridge offers a specific support group for spousal caregivers. This group meets in person the last Tuesday of the month at 3 p.m. at Waterstone. This support group is open to individuals that reside in Greenwich, Stamford and beyond.
