Make a Real Impact for a Greenwich Resident

The Wallace Center has been recognized as an essential facility in the lives of older adults in the Town of Greenwich. That's why the primary mission of the Friends of the Wallace Center (The Friends) is to raise funds, under its tax-exempt status to fund capital projects and programs for the Wallace Center above the funding provided by the Town of Greenwich and its members' fees.

When you donate to The Friends of the Wallace Center, we put your gift to work through facility support and program expansion and enhancement.

The principal objectives and activities of The Friends of the Wallace Center are:

To raise awareness of the needs of Greenwich residents who are 55 and older, and to demonstrate how the Wallace Center's programming and services adequately meets these needs.
To raise funds to be used by the Wallace Center for capital expenses, including renovations to the existing facility to meet the needs of the aging population in the Town of Greenwich.
To raise funds to be used to enhance existing programming and to add new evidence-based programming at the Wallace Center.

How Your Gift Helps Greenwich Older Adults

The Friends exists because limitations in the Town of Greenwich's budget don't allow for a funding level that fully supports the facility and programming needs of the Wallace Center. The only way to raise sufficient funds to bridge that shortfall was to form a nonprofit organization that could solicit funding. Those funds could then either be donated to the Town to enhance the facility or expended directly to provide senior programming.

Without the support of The Friends, ongoing and future facility renovation and enhancement couldn’t take place. Funding from The Friends will also allow additional and enhanced programming beyond what is possible under the Town of Greenwich budget. With funds previously raised, and with funds donated from the Wallace Trust, The Friends will be able to meet its previous funding commitment to the Town for the ongoing renovation project that will provide a new kitchen and café facility, along with renovated and enhanced program spaces.

Going forward The Friends’ plan is to develop an ongoing fundraising effort to provide funds for future Wallace Center capital projects and to continue expanding programming.

The Friends is an IRS qualified 501(C)(3) organization with all donations to it being tax deductible.
